Default Sleepovers

My wife and I are having a little disagreement concerning our 12-year-old daughter.
I feel that when she turns 13, she should no longer be allowed to have sleepovers with her girlfriends. I believe that they encourage lesbian feelings between girls.
My wife disagrees with this. She feels that they encourage non-sexual bonding between girls which she says is a very good thing.
How do all of you feel about this issue?

Oh sleepovers...

They're not what they used to be so I can definitely understand your concern.

I'd like to recommend a short blog post from my favorite blogger: Tim Challies

https://www.challies.com/articles/wh...-do-sleepovers

Our children only had sleepovers or had friends overnight that we knew very well, and have a close relationship with the family. Our concern was the possibility of molestation or rape. Also, the possibility of exposure to media that we did not approve of. So sad, but like I said, sleepovers are not what they used to be.

I agree with your wife.

I guess it depends on the girl and her friends. If you think there could be sneaking out (or just leaving, lol, some parents aren't home) or lesbian activities going on, then don't allow them. Sleepovers can be great for girl bonding if they are wholesome.

Thank you!
I guess I just don't understand the whole female bonding thing. When I had a sleepover with my best friend, we slept in a bunk bed. (We always fought over who got the top bed!) When girls have sleepovers, they usually sleep in the same bed together.

I had many sleepovers in my mid teens, they were fun. Then I had some in my late teens, which I should not have attended!
