Post Homeschooling the gifted child

My daughter is four and started reading when she was three. I have just been doing miscellaneous workbooks and Bob Books (which are now too easy for her). She's been doing 1st grade workbooks which are somewhat challenging, although the reading part is too easy. She loves school, unless she's overtired. Any suggestions to keep her challenged? I haven't been spending more than 30 minutes a day on homeschool as she has two younger brothers at home, one with autism.

If you post here-I promise you will get responses and help. For some reason, this Christian parents forum is pretty quiet.

I think it is great that you are going to house school, I was thinking of doing it but I don't think I have the skills for it!!

We have an early learning centre not far from us and I call in there for some books and educational programmes.

The forum can be a bit slow but the people on here seem to be very nice.

I don't home school. Blessed to have an awesome christian school in our neighbourhood that we send our kids to.

We have friends with a gifted son who was reading at 3. One of the things they did was start him at Piano lessons when he was four to encourage his thirst for learning but not so he was miles ahead of his classmates when he started school.

He is now 15 and this year is doing maths 2 years ahead of his classmates.

I'm pretty sure we don't have any active members that are homeschooling a gifted child on the forum. Do you use Facebook? You can try searching for groups that have members that homeschool gifted children.

We use Robinson curriculum which is self taught once they are reading. Mr. Robinson had most of his children graduate early. I suggest taking a look.
