View Full Version : Week 8 of getting healthy
Luv4kids 05-10-2010, 09:45 PM Ok ladies - how is everyone doing - what is the plan this week?
Today I ate:
Oatmeal, banana, coffee for breakfast
Healthy Request soup for lunch, grapes
Pear for snack
Ham, cantaloupe
walnuts
I walked 3 miles on my treadmill - I REALLY wanted some chips today - but I am not giving in - I'm going to bed! :praise:
cheeriokeeper 05-11-2010, 10:58 AM  good for you L4K!
i weighed in this morning and gained my 1lb back. :(
I just don't get it. i work really hard in the gym, and i cut way back on my portions and sweets.
i am getting discouraged again. it all seems pointless.
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 11:27 AM CK - I know you have heard this before - but here goes - muscle does weigh more than fat. You are working really hard - so try to see it as progress that you are not gaining weight - your muscles are getting heavier but you are staying the same - so since your weight is staying basically the same (even though those muscles are getting heavier) - you have been losing - do you get me?
AND you feel better - I'm sure you look better in your clothes - its PROGRESS girl!
YOU motivate me! I'd rather be a strong healthy chick than a skinny helpless chick :)
Keep it up! You will see the results you want - if you stay consistent! Don't give up! You are doing a great job and it is making a difference - we are in a "microwave" world - we want results NOW! I'm the Queen of it :redfaced:
Don't get discouraged! You really are doing great - remember the Mare who only "remembered" and "thought about" getting to the gym?
You are living it now! GREAT JOB and I am very proud of you!!!!
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 11:53 AM Today I had my raisin bran with skim milk!
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 12:26 PM Today I have had oatmeal with sugar free syrup in it - yum! I had my vitamins with yogurt for snack and for lunch I'm having progresso chicken and dumpling soup.
I'm denying myself - I really want some crunchy chips - I didn't realize I'm such a salt aholic! :( UGH!!! This is hard but has to be done.
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 12:35 PM I am a salt aholic as well. I wanted some chips this am too but, I turned around and walked away!
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 01:24 PM I had 4 melbac toast with peanut butter and tea with skim milk and honey
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 02:22 PM I ate my soup - the kids were stressing me a little - I REALLY wanted something even though I was not hungry - I even started to feel uneasy, kind of panicky because I had made up my mind that I will not eat because I'm stressed - long story short - I took a 15 minute nap - I still want something but I do feel a little better - I have lots of fruit and veggies here to munch if I get desperate enough but you know it really is TOUGH to feel your feelings instead of eating them away - in my case I slept them away. I have been using food to de-stress lately and its hard to change the habit.
I'm logging my food on calorie count (free website) It is helping me to see exactly what I'm eating - the calories plus the nutrients etc... plus its neat to see my "grade" at the end of the day. Yesterday I made an A - woo hoo!
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 02:26 PM oh wow that is great can you share that site if you don't mind
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 02:39 PM caloriecount.about.com is the site - its pretty easy to navigate. I just keep it pulled up all day and put my food in when I eat - and you can put in your exercise. I'm trying to eat 1500 calories or less a day - Its sad how fast the calories add up! AND it makes sense why I have not been losing weight lately - I figured out I eat way too much (I didn't realize the calorie content in some foods) Portion size is very important.
Let me know if you join - we can be friends on there :)
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 03:34 PM I am going there now
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 03:47 PM I joined
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 03:54 PM Cool - let me know how it goes - if you need help with it - I'll try :)
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 04:11 PM You can request me if you like
it's phoeberivera
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 04:17 PM ok, I'm moderationiskey :)
Phoebe_Rivera 05-11-2010, 04:26 PM Im still learning how to work the site but, I like it so far
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 04:34 PM I joined on Monday - so I'm still figuring things out too.
Luv4kids 05-11-2010, 05:25 PM There is also another site called - fitday - its free and very easy. Its not a forum, its just a personal diary of sorts - I may try that one again and see which one I like best - I used it when I lost weight a few years ago. I just KNOW I need some accountability and logging my weight, food, exercise and goals helps me.

 that's great!
thanks for the pep talk L4K!
i know i do feel better, and my clothes do feel looser. i just want to see the difference on the scale.
i talked to my trainer at the Y today. she said that doing a food log and counting calories in vs calories out is a good place to start to see where you need to make changes. also, she said i should do more aerobics on the weekend--because i'm not doing anything on the weekends. :(
so i will try that website to count my calories in and out, and i'm going to start walking around the neighborhood like i said b4. maybe my DH will get the hint and come with me! ha!
Phoebe_Rivera 05-12-2010, 09:52 AM Last night for dinner I had
5 small chicken wings, white rice and beans. Not the best but quick and easy.
Phoebe_Rivera 05-12-2010, 09:52 AM Today for Breakfast
plain oatmeal with skim milk, water and some honey
lauren 05-12-2010, 10:22 AM i have not eaten much at all since saturday .I have not had a meal but i had some fruit .
Dont know why but i have lost my appetite .
Phoebe_Rivera 05-12-2010, 10:36 AM Hi Lauren are you sick?
Luv4kids 05-12-2010, 02:06 PM I hope you are okay Lauren - we miss you!
Today I have had 5 slices of turkey bacon and coffee. I'm grilling chicken for supper and I'm having broccoli on the side.
I just walked over 3 miles (1 hour) on my treadmill.
*Note to self - I feel better and have more energy the less carbs I eat.
Yesterday I had lots of fruit - and I was tired all day (took a nap) fell off the wagon last night and ended up eating chips - UGH!
Today I've listened to my body - ate bacon when I was hungry, I've taken care of kids, cleaned my attic, exercised, cleaned my room, laundry- at the moment my energy is through the roof - just a note to self ;)*
Phoebe_Rivera 05-12-2010, 02:13 PM Vegetarian Split Pea Soup for lunch
cheeriokeeper 05-12-2010, 04:32 PM *Note to self - I feel better and have more energy the less carbs I eat.

L4K & Pheobe...i joined the calorie counter site. i got an A- yesterday! not bad!
my calorie intake needs to be around 1400/day.
so far today, i have consumed 856 cal.
i like that site. i have tried others and found them to be complicated. but this one is different.
what i cannot figure out is how to add friends...please tell me!
my member name there is the same as here: cheeriokeeper
Luv4kids 05-12-2010, 04:34 PM I can't figure out how to add friends either - it keeps sending me to FB and I'm not on there anymore - I guess we could ask someone.

lauren 05-12-2010, 05:41 PM Missed you guy's too , Sherry :)
Thanks Mare :)
Thanks phoebe , im not sick i dont know what is up i just completely lost my appitite .I dont know why .
Luv4kids 05-13-2010, 07:19 AM I'm glad you're not sick Lauren - I would take this opportunity to begin eating healthy when your appetite comes back :) and smaller portions - maybe your stomach has shrunk during this time. Your loss of appetite for a few days could be a good thing.
Yesterday was a great day! I ended up walking on the treadmill 30 more minutes (I did an hour earlier in the day) I didn't eat all the supper I had planned - I had to go back and take some food off of calorie count! :clapping:
I slept good last night! It feels good to start my day off today - with yesterday being a success! :praise:
* I credit my good day yesterday to low carb eating
I hope I don't drive you guys crazy - but I really want to document how I feel and how I'm doing according to WHAT I'm eating.
lauren 05-13-2010, 07:25 AM I hope so Sherry , i guess we had a few " bad " days and i was not sleeping well etc.....i still dont have any appitite yet and it is nearly a week .

today i picked up some fresh fruits and veggies, and some of those kellog's dark chocolate chewy bars. they have healthy dark chocolate and almonds! and 9 grams of fiber! 130 cal. not bad for a snack :)
today my DH and i had an impromptu date at Uno's.
all i had was a bowl of veggie soup, 1/2 oz of oyster crackers and water!
i was so proud of myself! :D
lauren 05-16-2010, 04:36 AM Mare i love those kellog's bars , they are great for curbing a sweet craving but very low in calories .
Well my apitite is somewhat better .I had dinner friday and saturday .
You wont believe it but i lost 7 pound's this week ( but then i had not been eating and was sick ) i know it will all come back on when i eat back to normal but i have a head start now and if i keep portion's low and healthy maybe it wont all come back :o
Luv4kids 05-16-2010, 03:11 PM I'm glad you're feeling better Lauren.
cheeriokeeper 05-16-2010, 09:41 PM yes, glad you are feeling better Lauren!
i had a very bad eating day....consumed about 300 cal over my limit! yikes!
we went to a graduation party in VT and i had cake! LOL
plus all that good BBQ food!
oh well! tomorrow is another day!
i am also bummed because my instructor at the Y is only doing her muscle matters class once a week now, instead of two days a week. so i will have to find something else to do on thursdays.
my husband got a health screening at work as part of their "get healthy get fit" program. they took blood work. it was not good. his triglycerides were high, his blood pressure was high, his sugar was high...ugh! :(
he really needs to join me in this get fit endeavor. his dad is diabetic and has heart disease. they usually go hand in hand. i told him that if he doesn't change his diet and exercise more, he's going to have a heart attack before he's 50! he's going to need some big time prayer to get started!!
Phoebe_Rivera 05-17-2010, 02:18 PM Hi Ladies.
I bit the bullet this weekend and I had a slice of pizza. A small slice but a slice non the less. now that I am tracking everything on the calorie counter I have gotten lazy to post things on here. Opps.
Breakfast
Raisin Bran with skim milk
I think lunch is going to be the same.
Glad you are feeling better Lauren
steph c 05-18-2010, 11:38 AM So how do I jump on this getting healthy bandwagon.
I have a love/hate relationship with eating right and exercise. I love the results, but hate the effort it takes!
I am about to be a working mother and wife that is also going back to school. I don't want to gain weight or loose any muscle either.

Welsome Steph :D
We jot down what we eat everyday and how the day has gone for us in general , swap successful tip's and just give each other a boost on those
" bad " days .
