Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has tried the maker's diet. I bought the book, I actually picked it up tonight to read it.

I just don't know if I can handle it. I love southern food. lol. I don't want to do it unless it's worth it.

I'll be following this thread as I've considered reading the book as well. I think I already do a lot of what it suggests, but not all (considering I haven't read the book I am going on hearsay).

If I remember correctly...I have read so many diet books... It is about eating healthy but I think it also talks about cleanses and some other complicated stuff besides the diet. (complicated to me)
The guy that wrote the book was really sick and was healed through his diet.

You know, I bought this book at a thrift store or a book sale at a library. Got it for $1 or something. But I have yet to read it. I think now is the time though...thank you posting this thread to remind me!

The diet seems a little extreme so far, the first day of phase 1 goes like this:

breakfast
fried eggs (fried in coconut oil or butter)
stir fried veggies

lunch
tuna salad
raw carrots and celery

dinner
french style london broil
green salad

evening snack
1/2 cup of strawberries with 1 ounce of raw goat's milk cheese

The rest of the week is filled with stuff like coconut milk soup, more raw veggies, and easy broiled halibut, goats milk yogurt.. tuna steaks.. oy.

Not all of it is too bad some of it looks good, but I just really, really love my casseroles. lol It's a great book it took me a month or two to actually read it, and I ended up reading half of it in one night. Fanastic. Complicated, but fantastic.

I don't think I have the patience for it though, I have a menu filled with dijon pork chops, chicken cordon bleu bake, and bacon popovers for the next week. I would much rather have that.

I started reading it this morning. I got through Chapter one and was awestruck by his story. I don't think I could do it completely. But, I would try to incorporate what I can. Some of those things would be weird to eat...I mean, i have never heard of some of them and quite frankly, they scare me! But since the doctor told me to start my DD on a natural diet, this seemed a good place to start!

I'm glad I don't do "diets" anymore

Diets= torture, for me.

lol.

I decided to say forget it. God made potatoes. I wanna eat them. All of them, I just love potatoes. This diet doesn't let me have potatoes, and that would make me sad. I just decided recentally since God made potatoes.. Tom's Cascade jalapeno potato chips are now vegetables, in my book.

It's totally not. But it is now in my house.

The bible says everything is permissible but not beneficial. For me.... I can not eat potatoes, pasta, chips, bread, sugar etc.... the high carb. foods.
I know that about myself so I choose not to eat them. Its not worth it to me. Its neat to see the Makers Diet doesn't recommend them either.

Anyway...there is freedom. We do make choices and we live with the consequences. We get to choose. No one is really held captive to being overweight.
I know exactly what made me 60 lbs overweight! It was the food and the amount I was eating!

Keeping a food journal has helped me. I see patterns in myself. When I ate those high carb foods... I would go off the deep end every time. When I ate low carb. foods I would be fine.

I think most people know their weaknesses and where they need to make changes. I am a firm believer of eating moderately and not using food as your source of medication.
That is where you need God to help you. It is hard. But if he shows you something and you don't attempt to make a change... His hands are tied.
This is just my opinion from my experience. :)

Well said! I agree...I want to take the 'advice' and apply what I can. Some of the 'foods' are just not doable for me. Besides, some change is better than no change, right?
