Our church is doing a time of consecration. For one month we are individually and corporately consecrating ourselves to the Lord either by fasting food or something else and focusing on what Jesus did for us at the cross.
Anybody else doing something similar?

Our church isn't doing that, although it does sound interesting. Are you doing with your church, and if so how exactly are you doing it?

I have been doing The Lords Table for a while now and it has felt like consecration to me. I am not using food to comfort me anymore...I am turning to the Lord and seeking comfort from HIM.
Sunday our Pastor walked us through the entire crucifixion and described everything Jesus suffered. We have heard the "story" of Jesus being crucified so much that our Pastor wanted us to become "sensitive" again to the real sacrifice that was made for us.
I am looking forward to the teachings this month.

That is really neat. I sometimes forget or become insensitive to exactly how much he suffered for us. I need to go back and read that and really ponder it again. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Every year in the beginning of Jan the Lord has me consecrate myself with fasting for the month.(My dh just joined in last year) Each year it is for something different. This year the Lord told me to have the kids get involved by not eating meat for the month. God has made my fast stricter but the kids were not to happy at first. But I let them know we are giving this fast unto God so He can bring order into our home and have His way with the youth. We have been coming together almost everynight praying with them and doing some kind of bible study. We never did anything like that at our church yet but we only been there five months. I know the pastor has mentioned something like that before but we havent done it yet. Hopefully one day we will come together and fast as a whole. I think it is something very awesome that your church is doing:)
